Tehri Rice

Hyderabadi Chicken Biryani Recipe

 

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup basmati rice
  • 2 tbsp oil or ghee
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 onion (sliced)
  • 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tomato (chopped)
  • 1 cup mixed vegetables (potato, peas, carrots, beans)
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 cups water
  • Fresh coriander for garnish

Instructions:

  • Wash and soak rice for 15 minutes.
  • Heat oil/ghee in a pot, add cumin seeds and bay leaf.
  • Add onions and sauté until golden.
  • Stir in ginger-garlic paste and tomatoes; cook till soft.
  • Add veggies, turmeric, chilli powder, garam masala, and salt.
  • Mix in the soaked rice and water.
  • Cover and cook on a low flame till rice is done and the water is absorbed.
  • Fluff gently and garnish with coriander.
  • Serve hot with curd or pickle for a hearty meal
